LOCAL NATURE PARTNERSHIPS
These are another brand new concept introduced by Defra. Any resemblance to the old Biodiversity Action Partnerships is purely coincidental! Bids need to be submitted by 6th June and there will be three bids concerning the North East. The Northern Uplands LNP will cover the Pennine Chain, including the Cheviots. The remainder of the North East will be covered by the Three Rivers and the Northumberland Lowlands and Coast bids.
There is funding of £20k available to establish the LNPs. It is not yet clear what funding may be available after creation, or indeed what they will actually attempt to do.
