News: June 2012

The Tyne Rivers Trust has secured funding from Defra to prepare a Catchment Management Plan as part of the Water Framework Directive delivery.

A key part of the project is tapping in to local knowledge about the rivers in the Tyne system.  It wants to hear about the issues local people know are affecting their local rivers, with specific information about where these problems are.  To gather this information it is conducting a survey.  The survey is very short and takes only a few minutes to complete, depending on how much detail the respondent chooses to provide.  Please visit to complete the survey. It is open until 18 June 2012.

If you would like to follow the progress as it develops the Tyne Catchment Plan, please visit the project website I have been asked to sit on the Steering Group. The catchment plan must be delivered in December 2012.

The first round closed at the end of January and has resulted in about 1000 rural businesses receiving grant funding.
